Video fragments from different cities (Moscow, Tokyo, Paris) form a wave of images which totally invade the screen; A process through which images disintegrate into different states, regroup and form new ensembles. Logical architectural elements become abstract structures. The usual representation of the city as a homogenous and clearly structured ensemble is left here for a dynamic perception , fragmented and individual, of the urban environment. This accelerated journey in the space gives us a non-linear perception of our environment.
Marina Chernilova was born in Moscow and lives between Moscow and Amsterdam. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in painting from the State Academy of Moscow and a European Media Masters of Arts and Images of Synthesis and Animation by computer at HKU (The Netherlands). She is currently working on a new series of photographic and video work based on the exploration of dynamic visual structures of large urban towns.
