Each
day, a professional from France or Germany will present his or her
work within a structure or institution, and will transmit practical
information and ideas on questions linked to the production and
distribution of works of art.
The presentations will be followed by a discussion and a meal with
the participating artists.
This forum will also provide a chance to witness the differences
and similarities between the situations in France and Germany, and
will therefore take on a Franco-German tone.

Fluctuating
boundaries between visual arts and cinema
On the stakes, questions, and problems connected to programming
using new audiovisual forms, between the domains of contemporary
art and cinema.
Now that museums and centers for contemporary art are opening up
to cinema, and now that many visual artists appropriate, question
and integrate cinema and its codes into their work, what are the
relationships between the domain of cinema and new, contemporary
audiovisual forms ?
More and more spaces for cinematic broadcasting have been using
the work of visual artists in their programming, as well as that
of videofilm makers, who are linked more to the visual arts than
to the domain of cinema. From a theoretical viewpoint, we must ask,
why take these directions in programming, and from a practical one,
what are or might be the results of such choices ? Both for
the public and the critics reception, and for the production
itself ?
Two debates will lead us to confront these questions, from two different
or complementary angles, where each participant will bring a specific
perspective connected to his/her life or professional experience.
The first debate will provide a chance to observe similarities and
differences between the situations in Germany and France, and will
thus take on a more Franco-German tone.
