Un développement plus poussé de l'œuvre remontant à 1999 : "My Name Is Grant". "Everybody Wants to Be Grant" va plus loin dans son investigation sur les pour et les contre de la célébrité, en se basant sur l'acteur du Hollywood classique : Cary Grant. Le titre de l'œuvre est tiré d'une citation d'un journaliste alors qu'il interviewait Grant. Le journaliste est sensé avoir dit : " Tout le monde aimerait être Cary Grant" ce à quoi Grant a répondu : "Moi aussi". L'œuvre est composée d'images simples : l'acteur qui va et vient devant un décor bleu nuit, qui interagit avec une bande son plus complexe. Etant à l'origine un travail sur le son, l'œuvre se concentre sur les monologues et dialogues de Grant, ceux-ci étant illustrés de ces scènes tout au long de la vidéo. "Everybody Wants to Be Grant" a été réalisé en 2001 mais une nouvelle version est sortie en 2002.


Als eine tiefgreifendere Umsetzung des Werks von 1999 "My Name Is Grant" setzt "Everybody Wants to Be Grant" seine Forschung nach dem Für und Wider des Berühmtseins fort anhand des Beispiels des klassischen Hollywood-Schauspielers Cary Grant. Der Titel des Werks zitiert einen Journalisten, der Grant interviewte. Der Journalist soll gesagt haben: "Jedermann möchte Cary Grant sein", worauf Grant ihm antwortete: "Ich auch". Das Werk besteht aus einfachen Bildern: Der Schauspieler geht vor einem nachtblauen Hintergrund hin und her, der mit dem komplexeren Filmton im Kontrast steht. Da es ursprünglich eine Arbeit über den Ton ist, konzentriert sich das Werk auf Monologe und Dialoge von Grant, die den ganzen Film lang von diesen Szenen illustriert werden. "Everybody Wants to Be Grant" wurde 2001 gedreht, 2002 ist aber eine neue Version gezeigt worden.


A further development of the 1999 work "My Name Is Grant", "Everybody Wants to Be Grant" goes farther in investigating the pros and cons of celebrityhood, with basis in the classic Hollywood actor, Cary Grant. The title of the work is taken from a statement made by a journalist whilst interviewing Grant. "Everybody wants to be Cary Grant", the journalist is supposed to have said, at which Grant replied: "So would I". The work is formed using simple imagery, the actor passes by us over and over again on a dark blue background, that interplays with a more complex soundtrack. Originally conceived as a sound-work, it has its focus in Grant's monologue/dialogue, which is illustrated by these scenes throughout the video. "Everybody Wants to Be Grant" was originally made in 2001, but remade in 2002 into a new work.

J. Tobias Anderson est né en 1971 à Göteborg en Suède, il vit et travaille à Stockholm. A l'origine, c'est un peintre qui, depuis 1993, travaille la vidéo et l'animation. Il expérimente aujourd'hui différentes techniques telles que la vidéo, la peinture, l'illustration, le son et la musique, avec une priorité donnée à la vidéo. De 1991 à 1993, il étudie à l' Ecole artistique de Gotland à Visby (Suède), puis, de1993 à 1998, au Département Artistique de l'University College of Arts, Artisanat et Design de Stockholm. Entre 1998 et 1999, il poursuit ses études au Royal College of Art au Département Vidéo de Stockholm (Suède). Ses œuvres ont été projetées à de nombreuses occasions dans le monde entier, que ce soit dans des festivals ou à des expositions. Certaines de ses vidéos sont entre autres présentées au Musée d'art moderne de Stockholm.


J. Tobias Anderson ist 1971 in Gothenburg in Schweden geboren, nun lebt und arbeitet er in Stockholm. Ursprünglich, ist er Maler und seit 1993 arbeitet er mit Videokunst und Animation. Heute erprobt er verschiedene Techniken wie das Video, die Malerei, die Illustration, der Ton und die Musik, mit einer Priorität für das Video. Seine Werke wurden bei zahlreichen Gelegenheiten auf der ganzen Welt aufgeführt, sei es bei Festivals, oder bei Ausstellungen. Einige seiner Videos wurden unter anderem in dem modernen Kunstmuseum von Stockholm vorgestellt. Von 1991 bis 1993, studierte er in der Kunst Schule von Gotland in Visby, Schweden ; dann, von 1993 bis 1998 im University College of Arts, Handwerk und Design, Künstlerische Abteilung, Stockholm, (Schweden). J. Tobias Anderson was born in1971 in Gothenburg, Sweden. He is living and working in Stockholm. Originally a painter, but since 1993 he has been working with videoart and animation. He is currently experimenting with a number of different techniques, such as video, painting, illustration, sound and music, with the main work still being made for video. His work has been screened on numerous occasions, and at festivals and exhibitions worldwide, moreover, it is represented with videoworks for instance at the Modern Museum of Art in Stockholm. From 1991 to 1993, he has studied in Gotland Art School, Visby, Sweden, then, from 1993 to 1998, in the University College of Arts, Crafts & Design, Art Department, Stockholm, Sweden. Between 1998 and 1999, he has followed his studies in the Royal College of Art, Video Department, Stockholm, Sweden.
