"Safe way" est une vidéo-enquête sur les gestes du quotidien, dans un supermarché américain de San Francisco (en Californie). La vidéo grossit ces actions de tous les jours, auxquelles nous ne prêtons pas attention. Elle offre un nouveau point de vue, permettant d'observer la danse des corps spontanés et le motif en constante évolution formé par les individus qui se croisent. Dans cette "chorégraphie" improvisée, nous nous déplaçons en montrant une conscience automatique de l'espace et du temps, qui donne naissance à des chemins différents aux rythmes syncopés.


"Safe way" ist eine Video-Erhebung über alltägliche Gesten in einem Supermarkt in San Francisco. Das Video vergrößert die Bewegungen von Alltagstätigkeiten, denen wir normalerweise keine Beachtung schenken. Die verwendete Perspektive erlaubt, den Tanz des sich spontan bewegenden Körpers zu betrachten. Das automatisierte Bewusstsein für Raum und Zeit, mit dem wir durch diese improvisierte "Choreografie" navigieren, läßt dabei unterschiedliche Gangarten mit synkopischen Rhythmen entstehen.


"Safe-way" is an investigative video of daily-life actions in a supermarket, San Francisco, California, USA. The video amplifies movements of daily-life activities, which we normally take for granted. It provides a new perspective, where it is possible to view the dance of the spontaneous body, and the constantly changing pattern of people weaving in between each other. We all move in this improvised "choreography" with an automatic awareness of space and time, which creates different pathways with syncopated rhythms.

Louise Bertelsen is a Danish Performance Artist, who is exploring Performance work in relation to site-specific improvisation, video and photography. She has done works both in Europe and The United States.

Ce document vidéo montre Louise Bertelsen faisant ses courses en commençant par la fin, dans le supermarché Safe-Way de San Francisco en Californie. La vidéo est présentée à l'envers, et les mouvements à rebours de la performer reprennent donc leur ordre habituel, tandis que les gestes du reste de l'assistance deviennent, eux, des mouvements à reculons. La vidéo est accompagnée d'une bande-son "à l"envers" : "Le beau Danube bleu", de Johann Strauss.
