Please take a few minutes in order to read this page, as it contains important information regarding the call for entries.

1. When will the next Rencontres Internationales take place?

The dates for the next Rencontres Internationales are available on our website, on the information page.

2. Does the "art-action" website exist in multiple languages?

YES, at the top of the page you will find a link to a French version of the website. It is also available in German at certain times of the year.

3. Can I submit a work if I do not live in France or Germany?

YES, it is possible to submit a work no matter what country you live in or what your nationality is. The programme is international.

4. Can I submit several works?

YES, any individual or organization can submit one or several works, within the limit of 5 submissions per year.

5. Is the call for entries free?

The answer to this question depends on the type of registration you choose: :

YES, the submissions are free. Submitting one or more works is free of charge, regardless of the number of submissions, the origin or the duration.

► SUBMISSION TO THE MOVING IMAGE ART PRIZE
100% ONLINE REGISTRATION ON FILMFREEWAY
NO, a registration fee is required. The registration fee also entitles you to the following advantages during the event:
- an e-accreditation offering access to exclusive online benefits and content.
- unlimited access to the online video library.
- priority on-site access to free screenings and programmes, and free on-site access to paid screenings and programmes.
- invitations to partner events.
The registration fees are received by roARaTorio – non-profit association with cultural aim under the French Law of 1901, organizer of the Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin –, to self-finance the MOVING IMAGE ART PRIZE which will be awarded to the winning artist.

6. What is the difference between the main programme and the Moving Image Art Prize?

The works selected for both the main programme and the Moving Image Art Prize will not be presented separately, but together as a single programme.

The main programme has no competition.
Registration is free.

► SUBMISSION TO THE MOVING IMAGE ART PRIZE

The Moving Image Art Prize is awarded with a grant of €20,000. It is awarded by an international jury during the event in Paris.
There is a registration fee.

7. What conditions must be met in order to submit a work? For films and videos, is a premiere required?

The answer to this question depends on the type of registration you choose:

► SUBMISSION TO THE MAIN PROGRAMME

Any submission to the Rencontres Internationales must have been produced in 2022, 2023 or 2024, and must not have been publicly displayed in Paris and Île-de-France region. It is important to read the "Call for entries information" which is posted on the entry form.

► SUBMISSION TO THE MOVING IMAGE ART PRIZE
100% ONLINE REGISTRATION ON FILMFREEWAY
The submitted works must have been produced in 2022, 2023 or 2024, and must not yet have been publicly shown in Paris and the Île-de-France region.
Important : the Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin does not require a world or international premiere, but in the event of equal interest between two works, priority will be given to a work that has not yet been publicly shown.

8. What type of work can I propose?

The call for entries is open to all film, video, and multimedia submissions, with no restrictions on genre or length. Works from other visual arts fields are also accepted.

9. How do I register an entry?

To enter your work, regardless of your country, you can choose between two types of registration. Please choose either one OR the other:

► SUBMISSION TO THE MAIN PROGRAMME

- Before filling out the entry form, you must post the required material online: video (video, or video documentation, or video demo) + synopsis or presentation text + biography + filmography and/or exhibition list. In other words, your video must be uploaded onto a website (like Vimeo, Youtube, Dailymotion, or a personal web site) and your texts must be available on a web page
We strongly recommend using the online service offered by VIMEO www.vimeo.com it is free, it allows you to create an access password, it preserves the video resolution, and it offers a description section where you can paste relevant text material.
- Once the required material (video + synopsis or presentation text + biography + filmography and/or exhibition list) is available online, please fill out the entry form here, On the entry form, you will have to include the web links to the required material.
- Material sent by email is not accepted.
- Schools, distributors, and production companies that would like to submit MORE THAN 10 SUBMISSIONS are not obliged to fill out the online entry form. This applies ONLY to schools, distributors, and production companies.

► SUBMISSION TO THE MOVING IMAGE ART PRIZE

To submit a work to the Moving Image Art Prize, here is a summary of the steps to follow:
- Create a free account on the FilmFreeway.com website.
- On your FilmFreeway account, create and complete a form for the work you wish to submit. It only takes a few minutes! Only fill in the information you want to share that matches your submission. You will be able to upload a video file of your submission directly to FilmFreeway or enter a link to watch your video online (such as Vimeo, Youtube, or a personal website).
- Once you have completed the form for the work you wish to submit, go to the FilmFreeway.com/RIPB page and click on the "Submit Now" button and follow the steps to confirm your submission.
Then pay the registration fee on the payment page.
Your submission will then be sent to us immediately.

10. Which video formats can I use to submit an entry?

It depends on the type of registration you make:

- There is NOTHING to send by mail, and the submission format consists of the video file that you must upload.
- Before filling out the entry form, you must post the required material online: video (video, or video documentation, or video demo) + synopsis or presentation text + biography + filmography and/or exhibition list. In other words, your video must be uploaded onto a website (like Vimeo, Youtube, Dailymotion, or a personal web site) and your texts must be available on a web page. ATTENTION: links to files to download are NOT accepted, links to Wetransfer.com etc. are NOT accepted. Please enter ONLY links to web pages on which your video and your text material can be directly seen online. Otherwise, it will be not possible to consider your entry. Once you have logged into your free FilmFreeway account, create and complete a form for the work you wish to submit. It only takes a few minutes! Only fill in the information you want to share that matches your submission. You can: :
- EITHER upload a video file of your submission directly on FilmFreeway,
- OR enter a link to watch your video online (such as Vimeo, Youtube, or a personal website). If you choose such a link: please note that links to downloadable files are NOT accepted, Wetransfer.com links etc. are NOT accepted. ONLY link to a web page where your video can be viewed directly online, otherwise your submission will not be considered.

11. I am making several submissions. Can I upload a video file containing several works?

For both the main programme and the Moving Image Art Prize: NO, the file you upload for ONE submission must correspond exclusively to the submission (it must not contain any other work). If you are entering more than one submission, you will need several separate files (ONE submission = ONE file / TWO submissions = TWO files / etc.).

12. I want to submit a work to both the main programme and the Moving Image Art Prize, do I have to enter it twice, both on the art-action.org website for the main programme and on FilmFreeway website for the Moving Image Art Prize?

NO, if you wish to submit the same work to the main programme AND to the Moving Image Art Prize, then you must enter that work ONLY to the Moving Image Art Prize via the FilmFreeway website. Works entered via Filmfreeway that are not selected by the selection committee to compete for the Moving Image Art Prize are automatically reviewed and considered for the main programme. Of course, if you only submit a work to the main programme (i.e. you only enter it via the entry form available on our website art-action.org), then that work will only be considered for the main programme. .

13. What material should I include in my submission(s)?

The material to be included depends on the type of work you are submitting, and the type of registration you choose:

Compulsory materialthat needs to be available online, in order to insert the links in the entry form:
- Video or video documentation of the submitted work
- Synopsis or presentation text of the submitted work
- Biography of the author(s) of the submitted work
- Filmography and/or exhibition list of the author(s) of the submitted work
Optional/additional material: On the entry form, you may add up to 3 supplementary links. Text material must be in at least one of these languages: French, German, English, or Spanish.

- Before filling out the entry form, you must post the required material online: video + synopsis or presentation text + biography + filmography and/or exhibition list. In other words, your video must be uploaded onto a website (like Vimeo, Youtube, Dailymotion, or a personal web site) and your texts must be available on a web page. ► SUBMISSION TO THE MOVING IMAGE ART PRIZE

After creating your free account on FilmFreeway, you will need to create and complete a form for the work you wish to submit. It only takes a few minutes! Only fill in the information you wish to share that is relevant to your submission. Basically, the requested material at this stage is: your contact details, technical data about the work, a text presenting the work, a video (you can either upload a video file of your submission directly on FilmFreeway, or enter a link to watch your video online).
In addition to the material specified in the form for the work you wish to submit, when you submit your work on our filmfreeway.com/RIPB page by clicking on the "Submit Now" button, you will have the opportunity to provide several additional, non-mandatory links:
- A link to the synopsis or presentation text of the submitted work.
- A link to the biography of the author(s) of the work.
- An additional link of your choice.
Texts must be in at least one of these languages: English, French, German or Spanish.
No material will be accepted by email.

14. How do I send in my submission(s)?

It depends on the type of registration you make :

The registration of a submission is done exclusively online on our website, with ONE FORM PER SUBMISSION. No postal sending. Material sent by email will not be accepted.

► SUBMISSION TO THE MOVING IMAGE ART PRIZE
100% ONLINE REGISTRATION ON FILMFREEWAY
The registration of a submission is done exclusively online on FilmFreeway.com/RIPB with ONE REGISTRATION PER SUBMITTED WORK. No postal sending. Material sent by email will not be accepted.

15. Who can I contact if I have a question or difficulty that is not answered on the FAQ page?

16. What is the submission deadline?

It depends on the time of year you enter a submission:

The deadline for the first part of the 2024-2025 call for entries is 15 February 2024. The deadline for the second part of the 2024-2025 call for entries is 25 April 2024.This is the deadline to register the entry form on our website. If you register your entry form after the deadline, your entry will be considered as part of our permanent call for entries for the next programme selection. A permanent call for entries is in effect the rest of the year, allowing you to submit entries throughout the year.
No documentation can be sent by email.

► SUBMISSION TO THE MOVING IMAGE ART PRIZE
100% ONLINE REGISTRATION ON FILMFREEWAY
The deadline for the first part of the 2024-2025 call for entries is 15 February 2024. The deadline for the second part of the 2024-2025 call for entries is 25 April 2024. This is the deadline to enter and submit your work to the MOVING IMAGE ART PRIZE on the FilmFreeway website.
No documentation can be sent by email.

17. Is there a privacy guarantee with regard to the personal information provided during the registration process, and what insurance will be used for our works?

The Rencontres Internationales guarantees the confidentiality of all personal information. In accordance with European regulation of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), you have the right to correct or modify personal information pertaining to yourself at any time. Films and videos in their presentation format, as well as completed installations, are insured by the Rencontres Internationales, as long as they are in the trust of the event.

18. How do I receive a notification after submitting a work?

It depends on the type of registration you make:

YES, when you complete the registration of a submission (at STEP 5 by clicking on the blue "FINISH" button), a registration confirmation email is sent to you.

► SUBMISSION TO THE MOVING IMAGE ART PRIZE
100% ONLINE REGISTRATION ON FILMFREEWAY
YES, after clicking on"Submit Now" on our FilmFreeway.com/RIPB page and following the steps to pay the registration fee, you will be notified. This notification will only be sent after payment of the registration fee
Important: a submission to the MOVING IMAGE ART PRIZE on the FilmFreeway website will only be taken into account after payment of the registration fee, which is requested at the end of the registration process.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you do not receive a notification.

19. How can I find out about the programme and whether my entry will be a part of it?

For both the main programme and the Moving Image Art Prize: Notifications of decisions are sent by email one month before the start of the event.

20. If my entry is accepted to be part of the programme, what kind of support can I expect?

The Rencontres Internationales handles technical needs for installations, performances, and concerts. Artist fee is offered for performances, installations and concerts. Films and videos benefit from translation and subtitling services. The Rencontres Internationales invites the programmed artists and filmmakers depending on its budget. It arranges the presence of professionals, in order to support new distributions and new projects.
