Paris 2023 programme
Moving Image Art Prize 2023
For the second year, an international jury has awarded the Moving Image Art Prize to one of the works in the programme.
Created in 2021 in a post-Covid context, to provide even greater support for the singular audiovisual forms that the event promotes, the Moving Image Art Prize is awarded in the form of a grant to an artist taking part in the event.
In 2022, the prize was awarded for the first time to the artist duo Effi & Amir for the work "Places of Articulation: Five Obstructions", by an initial jury made up of : Vittoria Matarrese (director of performing arts programming, Palais de Tokyo), Kevin Muhlen (director, Casino Luxembourg - Forum d'art contemporain), Pascale Raynaud (cinema programmer, Musée du Louvre), and Emilia Tavares (senior curator, Museu do Chiado National Museum of Contemporary Art, Lisbon).

The Moving Image Art Prize 2023 has been awarded to:
"Normalisation of a Disaster" by Devadeep Gupta
Jury Statement: This year’s selection of works was highly political, and deeply engaged in various geographical, historical and social contexts. We felt that Davadeep Gupta’s film, "Normalization of a Disaster", confronted us not only with images of an environmental catastrophe, but with the ways that we become desensitized to disasters as both distressing and fascinating events. Sensitively luring us in with a sublime and precise depiction of a place and its community, Gupta reminds us of the danger of our own tolerance and complicity in the on-going planetary climate crises.
